      Archival Pilates (USPA)

      The Joseph H. Pilates Archival Seminars include unseen film footage of the Master himself Teaching.  These seminars are based upon the original work of Joseph Pilates and contain hundreds of exercises, many which have not been seen, or explored by the Pilates community. The foundation and benefits of each exercise and apparatus is explored including integration into existing repertoire, necessary modifications, and adaptations. This will be an interactive experience and process where attendees will participate, and learn the exercise process from history of evolution, purpose, to demonstration, and precision via a highly refined approach to execution.  The Archival Seminars are presented through the United States Pilates Association and are only offered in the U.S.A.

      Pilates for Children
      “First Educate the Child” a chapter in “Your Health” by Joseph Pilates.  Joseph Pilates strongly believed that children should learn the Pilates Method of Body Conditioning.  The seminar focuses on appropriate methods of teaching the Pilates Method to the child learner.  Learn cognitive, behavioral, physiological and anatomical considerations in teaching this population.  Learn how to generate creative lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate as well.  The seminar addresses how to implement a Pilates curriculum into a variety of settings.

      Pre-Pilates and Modifications
      The Pre Pilates and Modifications Seminar, includes everything from initial exposure to contrology, it's origins, to exercises for special populations for individuals with pre existing conditions, who require modifications/enhancements prior to the complete Basic repertoire.

      Spinal and Trunk Abnormalities
      The Spinal and Trunk Abnormalities Seminar gives participants the ability to classify different abnormalities of the spine, they will be able to recognize body systems of the human anatomy and they will be able to design and execute methods and protocols of working with specific populations of people with spine abnormalities by implementing exercises of the Pilates method of body conditioning.  The Spine Abnormalities covered are Prolapsed Disc, Spinal Stenosis, Hyper Kyphotic and Hyper Lordodic Curvatures of the Spine as well as Sciatica.

      Knee Abnormalities
      The Knee Abnormalities Seminar gives participants the ability to classify different abnormalities of the knee, they will be able to recognize body systems of the human anatomy and they will be able to design and execute methods and protocols of working with specific populations of people with knee abnormalities by implementing exercises of the Pilates method of body conditioning.  The Knee Abnormalities covered are Patella Femoral Knee Tracking Disorder, ACL & PCL Injuries, Varus & Valgus Knee Structures and Strains as well as Hyper-Extended Knees.

      Shoulder Pathologies
      The Shoulder Pathologies Seminar gives participants the ability to classify different pathologies of the shoulder, they will be able to recognize body systems of the human anatomy and they will be able to design and execute methods and protocols of working with specific populations of people with specific shoulder pathologies by implementing exercises of the Pilates method of body conditioning.  The shoulder areas that will be covered are Rotator Cuff injuries, Frozen Shoulder, Shoulder Dislocations, Shoulder Subluxations and injuries of the Acromioclavicular joint.    

      Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease
      The Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease Seminar gives participants the ability to classify the diseases Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s as well as the ability to design and execute methods and protocols of working with these diseases by implementing exercises of the Pilates method of body conditioning.

      System Seminars (USPA)
      The System Workshops are designed to teach the philosophical, technical, and pedagogical aspects of The Authentic Pilates™ professional training program. Students are taught beginning, intermediate, and advanced-level movements for each apparatus. The movements are demanding, and you must be in good physical condition to participate. You must also be relatively active with decent flexibility and some sense of your body.  These seminars are only offered for students in the New York Pilates Studio® Teacher Certification Program.
